I plan to post items that are uplifting, funny, positive, thought-provoking, and hopefully enjoyable. Also, the things I post will not be religion-specific, although I do hope to post items that are spiritual in nature. I plan to post items to this blog that give me a pick-me-up that currently in this world is desperately needed. So, I encourage you to join me in Making this a Great Day!

Chronologically Gifted
I once attended a lecture and at one point the presenter described an individual he knew as "chronologically gifted". It took me a while for the phrase to sink in, but I suddenly realized that he was referring to his friend who was elderly. "Chronologically Gifted"...what a great way of describing someone who has advanced in years!
Many people dwell on how "old" they are. I have heard it asked, "How old would you be if you never knew your date of birth"? Some people are old mentally, long before their body begins to slow down, because they allow their age to dictate how they feel.
Modern medicine and science have enabled us to live longer. However, we often look upon our advancing years as a "curse" because the capabilities we had in our youth have diminished. As we grow older, instead of dwelling on the things that are more difficult for us to do, we should focus on those things we are still able to do or new things we CAN do. Sure, getting older means more aches and pains and the taking of numerous medications. My Dad, at 81 years young, was taking 21 pills a day...and he never complained. He seemed grateful that his medication kept him active. He lived until he was 89.
If we consider life a gift, growing old is really a chronological gift. Therefore, I plan to consider myself "chronologically gifted" for each day of my advancing years. How about you?
Have a gifted week!
